TWITER CONTROVERSY

Tweet ace rollocked by Arsenal

ARSENAL star Emmanuel Frimpong has been rapped by his club after yet another Twitter controversy — for an “anti-Jewish” remark. The Gunners midfielder was “reminded of his responsibilities” following an ugly spat on the social networking site. The ticking-off came after the 20-year-old branded a fan of North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur “Scum Yid” — a derogatory term for a Jew.The row, which follows last week’s Rio Ferdinand-Ashley Cole “choc ice” bust-up, erupted when Frimpong posted a message on Sunday morning asking people going to church to pray for him.

A fan from Spurs, which for decades has had a high proportion of Jewish supporters, replied: “I prayed you break your arms and legs.”Ghana international Frimpong then hit back with the “Yid” comment.

But an Arsenal spokesman said: “Emmanuel Frimpong has been reminded of his responsibilities and has deleted the comment.”Spurs said: “Anti-Semitism is wholly unacceptable. The defining principle is whether or not the term is used in a manner or tone deliberately intended to cause offence.”Last week United’s Ferdinand called Chelsea’s Cole a “choc ice”, which is often taken to mean a black person white on the inside. It followed Cole giving evidence for John Terry in his “racism” case against Ferdinand’s brother Anton.Meanwhile Spurs player Danny Rose apologised yesterday for calling his own fans “yiddos”.

He tweeted: “Apologies if offended anyone. I hear the fans chant it all the time .. So again very sorry!!”
